Pleasant Point Railway and Museum, where you can ride on a fully operational AB699 Steam Train and also the world’s only Model T Ford Railcar. There are two museums for you to enjoy; the one at the station and the Keanes Crossing complex which you ride down to on the train and which houses a much larger collection of displays. Among them are a vintage printery, the collection of rolling stock and locomotives as well as displays of old computers and telexes. There is even a small movie theatre that screens fabulous old cartoons. Truly something for everyone.
Hidden away on a quiet back road in the tiny hamlet of Seadown, just north of Timaru, the Shearer's Quarters Cafe is a slice of retro rustic heaven offering a great day out for visitors of all ages and tastes. Owned and operated by the South Canterbury Car Club Inc, and developed from humble beginnings, this circuit is licenced to FIA category 3 which allows the club to run international events as well as National Championships including the NZV8s and Super Truck Racing. It has a busy calendar of events all year round and provides a great day out for the enthusiast and casual visitor alike.
A picturesque 18 hole course with lovely plantings and magnificent views of the surrounding hills. The easy terrain makes it a comfortable walk for golfers of all ages and with good bridges and pathways, carts and buggies navigate the course with ease.
